In an eerie prelude to the sad death of David Carradine, I too found myself swinging on a rope from the ceiling of the Swissotel Nai Lert Park in Bangkok.
Carradine reportedly sipped his final drink in the hotel’s stylish “Syn” Bar, where I once enjoyed a quiet evening. The seating arrangements include some strange plastic half-spheres suspended from the ceiling which look like something out of Barbarella. They’re fun, if a little impractical, but I fear they may have implanted the seed of an unwise idea in David Carradine’s troubled mind.

Last night, Thailand’s monopolistic cable company, TrueVisions, unceremoniously dumped the popular BBC Entertainment channel. At the stroke of midnight, subscribers hoping to enjoy the best of contemporary UK TV were instead subjected to a 16-year old episode of the X-Files.
