Humanity.

If you can help then do it.

Shame on us who complain about not having the newest gadget.

And shame on us who don’t spend on hour of our lives helping someone in need.

Alison Robin August 15, 2008 at 2:24 pm

Those children were raised right, and their parents should be very proud of them. It’s things like this that really make my day.

B Nelson August 17, 2008 at 11:27 am

sadly animals live in a “throw away” society, the pup is lucky to have got out of the canal, but I wonder if anyone is caring for it now?

Kenneth G August 18, 2008 at 9:53 am

Whoa Mr Nelson.. Get over yourself.. What were the boys supposed to do ? Leave it to drown – “because thats more humane” ?? It’s in THAILAND – not YOUR “throw away-society”.. Man – if you wanne leave a comment, please let it be at least close to the subject – and at least with a minimal of thought behind it..

Ben August 18, 2008 at 11:05 am

I bet they ate good that night!

Joe August 18, 2008 at 7:35 pm

Are you kidding me Kenneth? What Nelson said was perfect, down to the T. Thailand, U.S.A, Ethiopia for that matter. Everywhere today is a throw away society, who are you trying to kid?

So before you try to think you know what you’re talking about, maybe it’s you who should put thought into what you say.

Joe August 18, 2008 at 11:02 pm

I agree with Nelson. Kenneth, you should think before replying. Did Nelson ever imply that the kids should have left it?

Krl August 18, 2008 at 11:07 pm

soundstorm August 19, 2008 at 12:27 am

in asia people normally don’t care very much for animals, even less than in our western world, so it was a really special moment…

JL August 19, 2008 at 12:47 am

I wonder if anyone here is aware of the rampant rabies problem in Thailand. There are hundreds of HUMAN deaths every year there, and there are thousands of stray dogs in the streets-95% of them rabid. They die in the streets and no one cleans them up, and you think oh poor puppy. It’s not America, and it was probably pretty stupid of those kids to touch the dog unless it belonged to them. Don’t get me wrong, I love animals, but read any travel brochure on Thailand and one of the first things you read is NEVER touch the animals there.

AleX August 19, 2008 at 12:53 am

Bangkok oriental city and the city don’t know what the city is getting…hehe.

I mean….awwwww

Easy does it August 19, 2008 at 1:33 am

Kenneth and Joe. Its great that a picture that was supposed to inspire us has now sparked a debate betweeen two pesimistic “know it alls”. Why don’t you two just write eachother back and forth and save us all your negative outlooks. Geeze talk about debbie downers.

Jefferson August 19, 2008 at 1:34 am

Why is there always some kind of trivial argument in comment spots? These kids did something great for a drowning puppy. Can’t we just appreciate that?

Laura August 19, 2008 at 2:11 am

Let’s all make drama about a cute and touching series of images! Woooo!

RamaOtster August 19, 2008 at 2:35 am

Maybe we should all just focus on the fact that two little boys who apparently had nothing more than each other and a lunch bag were inventive enough to reach the puppy and pull him out of the water instead of judging todays society.

Kids like this make it clear that things aren’t as bad as everyone would have it appear.

Froot August 19, 2008 at 4:19 am

While what Joe said is somewhat true, the United States is the absolute worst “throw away society”

Places like Thailand still have rural areas where villagers make the most of everything they have. I bet even the big cities there are better than places in the U.S.

Even so, the entire world is crap now because of the human race

Zane Trance August 19, 2008 at 4:38 am

@ben I thought the same thing right when I saw the word thailand… :(

bob August 19, 2008 at 7:31 am

i think it’s shocking the way some people seem to think they know what happened to that pup right after these pictures were taken. those kids did a great thing and you can’t tarnish their good deed by saying what doesn’t exist in these photographs

sean August 19, 2008 at 8:48 am

yeah! fight with each other and spread negative energy!
at least the meaning of the photographs came across clearly.

i like the boy-puppy handshake.

Jenna August 19, 2008 at 9:47 am

I love seeing posts like these.. It is an amazing show of how there is still SOME good out there.. And of course its children.. You are all examples of what I am talking about.. Can’t you just look at the pictures and not read too much into it.. It’s cute..

XxX August 19, 2008 at 10:21 am

damn… all they did was save a puppy, for all we know they probably took it home or maybe they tortured it. you dont know. why is it that anytime someone post a picture up of something of someone doing a nice thing, someone always hates on it.

Cheryl August 19, 2008 at 12:28 pm

Wow! It is a nice photo….not worthy of such idiotic comments though.

A few thoughts deeper may have caused you to think…

1. Who said the puppy was drowning??

2. Why didn’t the photographer put the camara down and save the puppy…if it was drowning??

Robert August 19, 2008 at 12:59 pm

The page doesn’t show the next few pictures in the series, where the kids skin and roast the doggie over a nice fire. Mmmmm!

avaloon August 19, 2008 at 1:42 pm

you don’t have to speculate about what occurred after they saved the dog. that is not what this was intended to do. it’s quite simple. the important thing is that two boys had the compassion and resolve to save a dog from –whether it was in any danger at all or not– what they thought was drowning.

these pictures are the kind of thing that really inspire me. and then, as i have had the misfortune to come to expect, someone makes a snide holier-than-thou comment about how the kids didn’t employ proper technique to save the dog or something to that obnoxious effect, acting as the catalyst for dozens of comments completely unrelated to the intents of the post(unfortunately just like this one).

Why don’t we agree to disagree?

There is no right nor wrong.

There is just “is.”

Don’t make a big Ordeal outta something small like these pictures…

Fight about War or Politics…

But I mean what do I know I’m a 15 year old Girl who looks at things from every angle….

I’m not right.

I’m not wrong, either.

So stop clucking like angry hens, and live life and smell the flowers in the morning and at night!

Love, Peace, And a lot of meat!

Christ, people always need to read negativity into everything, even cute, inspiring pictures and acts of human decency. Get over yourselves, guys.

This is heartwarming. Like someone said, these kids were raised right. It’s encouraging to see that there is still kindness in the world.

Brian August 19, 2008 at 5:16 pm

Yes there is a right and wrong, though I’m speaking generally and not about this picture or the arguments about it.

Buzz words are fun. Every 15 year old thinks they hold they hold some grandiose special knowledge of the world involving plurality. You don’t.

Now go smell flowers, shift paradigms, and revolutionize outside the box.

LEORY September 7, 2008 at 10:52 am

ah well….pictures of good deeds ..how many people on earth have done the same thing ..an artistic mind would really appreciate it but critic minds does negative thoughts.. lesson for the picture..do unto others what others want you to do

GTFO. STOP BITCHING ABOUT PEOPLE BITCHING.

Jonny January 16, 2009 at 5:39 am

I agree with Cheryl. Sure it’s a touching set of pictures, but what is wrong with that photographer? I mean, the two kids can hardly reach the dog.. And what if they fell in? Would the photographer take pictures of them flailing around in the water? Gotta love when the man behind the camera forgets he too is there to help.

Rob January 16, 2009 at 9:14 am

I think I saw that dog…under my new car. I hate that dog. Cost me $20 to get it washed and hand-toweled dry. They did a pretty good job, though. I think I’ll go back next week.

g January 16, 2009 at 10:08 am

JL, If you knew anything, you’d know that animals with rabies have hydrophobia. That’s a fear of water.
Which means it probably wouldn’t have been in or near the water in the first place.

Qwerty January 24, 2009 at 3:26 pm

Good kids. Now lets hope they would offer the same if, not better, hand to a human.

Scott January 29, 2009 at 11:02 pm

Of course they saved it, it will be dinner in a few more months!!!!

codykru January 31, 2009 at 12:04 am

wow,
these kids have heart.

!indsey February 2, 2009 at 8:57 pm

I don’t care what people say, these kids are brave and have huge hearts. Everyone who is saying that they should have let the puppy drown is ridiculous.

And the point is that the world is made of throw-away societies, Kenneth. Nelson never said they should have left the dog to die. He was stating what was on all our minds when we reached the final picture: does the dog live out his days in starvation, or does he find a home where someone will love him as much as these strangers do?

In the end, I prefer an imperfect life over no life at all.

Ph. Enomden February 3, 2009 at 8:24 am

What makes Web 1.0 better than Web 2.0? Right, the lack of comment functions.

Hashim February 4, 2009 at 12:22 am

These kids are not only kind to animals but also intelligent.

Lon Wang February 6, 2009 at 7:59 am

Took the dog home. Said it was delicious.

Sid February 11, 2009 at 1:14 am

This is sensational and a perfect demonstration of humanity. It kindles my hope that the next generation would continue to exhibit impressive demonstration of humanity irrespective of the difficulties. I also was moved by their presence of mind!

Rachel March 10, 2009 at 12:28 am

This picture is excellent!

Vancouver March 22, 2009 at 1:58 pm

Amazing what people will do for their lunch (referncing the sotry in the head with a very similar looking dog).

m March 23, 2009 at 6:14 am

G, if YOU knew anything you would know that [hydrophobia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabies#Symptoms) in this context does not refer to fear of water in general, but fear of drinking fluids.

Nate March 23, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Cheryl and Jonny,

From the angles from which the pictures were taken i would wager that the photog was on the on the other side. Else he should have been smack in the middle of that canal.

What the kids did was nice a gesture.

Puppy March 23, 2009 at 10:11 pm

That puppy does not look like it was drowning. And even if he did help the puppy out of the canal, he grabbed it by the nose, that must of hurt like a bitch.

JZilla March 24, 2009 at 5:41 am

I’m from Thailand and usually you would not want to mess with a stray dog.

But in this case, these kids use their goodness in their heart to save the little puppy. In Thailand, we are brought up to respect humans and animals.

P.S. we do not eat dogs. That’s korean.

Meg March 24, 2009 at 11:41 am

why cant everyone just look at the picture, appreciate that someone somewhere did a kind thing and stop analysing it as “a reflection of the state of the world today”.. i am sure there are instances of human kindness everywhere in the world and this happened to be thailand, it could just as well have been ethiopia , USA or iceland.

its just supposed to remind you that human kindness will always exist and there is hope for human beings yet.

Dick March 25, 2009 at 9:13 am

The dog was ferrel and infected with disease (Thailand) the brats would have been doing the world a favor and letting the mut drown. One less diseased dong in the world is a better world for us all.

ASh! March 25, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Doesnt anyone notice the LION in the last picture!?!?

You can really see it in the ones after the jump.
